Welcome to Nursery

We are a 26 place Nursery. Children are admitted to our Nursery class after their third birthday. The morning session runs from 8.25am to 11.30am and the afternoon session runs from 12.45pm to 2.50pm. If your child attends full time, the session runs from 8.25am to 2.50pm.

Our Early Years Foundation Stage at Blacklow Brow is a safe, secure and happy place to be. We provide no barriers to children’s learning and a high-quality start to your child’s education. Staff have high expectations, and our ambitious curriculum provides challenge, ensuring children make above typical progress within all areas of learning and are well equipped to begin full time education.

Children are active learners who are motivated and respect each other. They enjoy playing and exploring in all areas of the environment, both in and outdoors. Children learn through experience and are curious about the world around them. They love reading because it is fun, engaging and exciting, with activities linked to stories. We participate in whole school initiatives such as Drop Everything and Read, teaching the children that reading is invaluable and of great importance, and it develops their vocabulary and ability to understand ideas. The love of early reading underpins all we do and children and parents are encouraged to read at home through home readers from the first week of term.

Staff have a detailed knowledge of early mathematics and encourage children’s interest in number and shape through Numicon, number of the week and Maths Mastery. We provide opportunities for children to develop and demonstrate their mathematical thinking within the continuous provision, both in and outdoors.

If you are interested in your child attending the nursery please contact the school office to obtain an admission form. Children are admitted after their third birthday.
